WOODSTOCK, GA – The month of September marks the beginning of the Discover Woodstock Scavenger Hunt, a city-wide activity that includes fun and interesting clues encompassing information about our vibrant history, trail systems, and local makers. It is a popular fall activity for friends and family, and can be done either in groups or by individual participants.
Created each year by Visit Woodstock GA, the Discover WDSTK Scavenger Hunt begins August 31st and runs through September 30th. During this time, participants are given the unique opportunity to gather photographic evidence of their journey through 100 different venues in Woodstock.
The event is free to take part in, and no advanced registration is required. Teams will be competing to win a $100 Downtown Dollars Gift Certificate and many other great prizes donated by local Woodstock businesses.
“We started the Discover WDSTK Scavenger Hunt in 2013,” stated Kyle Bennett, Tourism Manager for Visit Woodstock GA. “Since then, we’ve seen such a positive response to the event, with many participants competing every year. We do create new clues for each new year, so even if you’ve done one of our scavenger hunts in the past, you’re sure to have new challenges and learn new fun facts about our city.”
The scavenger hunt clue sheet will be published at 10am on August 31st on the social media pages for Downtown Woodstock and Visit Woodstock, as well as on the website: visitwoodstockga.com/scavenger-hunt.
Participants can submit their photos to the Woodstock Visitors Center (8588 Main Street) throughout the month of September, any time during open working hours Monday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm. Photographic submissions are accepted via cell phone, digital camera, or any devices used; though entrants are encouraged to download onto a USB or flash drive if possible. Judges will examine photos to score the scavenger hunt results, and those with the most points by the end of day on September 30th will be notified and rewarded their prizes.
